DONYDO at JGTD 2026: Donata Anderloni Invited to Speak on the Future of Jewellery

From the first creative idea to the jewel someone chooses to wear: a conversation about design, craftsmanship, technology and meaning.

Every jewel begins with an idea. Bringing that idea to life takes imagination, technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the person who will eventually wear it.

On 28 October 2026, Donata Anderloni, Founder and Creative Director of DONYDO, will join an industry panel as an invited speaker at Jewellery, Gem & Technology in Dubai (JGTD), at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City.

Presented by the Dubai Business Group for Gold & Jewelry Designers, the session, “From Design to Production,” will explore the journey from creative vision to the customer—connecting the perspectives of designers, manufacturers, gemmological specialists and jewellery businesses.

For DONYDO, it is an opportunity to contribute a perspective rooted in independent design, entrepreneurship and the belief that jewellery carries meaning beyond its materials.

From a creative vision to a wearable jewel

What does it take to preserve the character of an original idea as it moves through development and production?

A drawing or digital image is only the beginning. Proportions, gemstone selection, setting techniques, structure, comfort and production costs all influence the finished piece. Each decision requires a conversation between creative ambition and practical expertise.

The panel will explore these connections, considering how designers and production partners can work together to create jewellery that remains distinctive, beautifully made and relevant to its wearer.

It will also address the relationship between design and the market: how to respond to retail expectations and customer needs while maintaining a recognisable creative identity.

The DONYDO perspective: jewellery with a purpose

At DONYDO, design begins with a question: what can this jewel mean to the person wearing it?

This philosophy comes to life through the brand’s Seven Energy Points—Grounded, Flow, Shine, Grace, Clarity, Vision and Pure. Each offers a different starting point for personal expression, allowing a jewel to become a reminder of an intention, a milestone or a meaningful connection.

Donata’s contribution will draw on the experience of building an independent jewellery brand while balancing creative identity with the realities of running a business.

Understanding a customer’s lifestyle, preferences and budget is part of that process. So is preserving the originality that gives a collection its character.

A designer creates the piece; the person wearing it brings another layer of meaning to its story.

AI, new technologies and the human contribution

The discussion will also consider how artificial intelligence and new manufacturing technologies are influencing jewellery design and production.

For independent brands, AI can support creative exploration, visualisation, communication and business planning. It opens up possibilities and makes it easier to investigate ideas before committing to development.

Yet a compelling image still needs to become a wearable jewel.

That transition depends on human judgement: understanding materials, evaluating proportions, resolving technical challenges and collaborating with skilled CAD specialists, manufacturers and craftspeople.

Donata will bring her practical experience of using AI as a designer and entrepreneur to this conversation, alongside questions about originality, creative ownership and the importance of continuing to develop an individual design language.

For DONYDO, the guiding principle is simple: technology should help a designer express a vision with greater clarity, while craftsmanship and meaning remain central to the finished piece.
